130 Abducted Schoolchildren Regain Freedom

Abuja, Dec. 22, The remaining 130 schoolchildren abducted by terrorists from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, Niger State, have regained their freedom.

The children were abducted on Nov. 21.

The Presidential Spokesman, Mr Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday.

Onanuga said the freed schoolchildren were expected to arrive in Minna on Monday, where they would reunite with their parents ahead of the Christmas celebration.

He explained that 100 of the abducted students had earlier been released, bringing the total number of freed children to 230.

According to him, the release followed a military intelligence–driven operation.
