Prince Tonye T.J.T. Princewill has officially returned to Buguma, Rivers State, to assume his responsibilities as Paramount Chief, bringing his leadership closer to the people of the Kalabari Kingdom.
The son of the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari, King Amachree XI, Princewill has spent years engaged in professional and civic activities across Nigeria and overseas. His return to Buguma marks a deliberate decision to focus on traditional leadership and community development at the grassroots.
Residents say the new Paramount Chief has maintained a visible presence since his arrival, holding interactions with youths, elders, and community stakeholders. His leadership approach, according to observers, places emphasis on accessibility, dialogue, and service.
Princewill is also known for his contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry and has expressed interest in using film and storytelling to promote Kalabari culture and history. These initiatives are expected to complement his traditional role and inspire cultural pride among younger generations.
He has reiterated his commitment to fostering unity, preserving tradition, and supporting development initiatives that will improve the social and economic wellbeing of Buguma and its surrounding communities.
