LAGOS, Dec. 7, 2025 – A Ghanaian football analyst, John Amoa, says the country’s men’s national football team, the Black Stars, has a strong chance of qualifying from its group at the forthcoming World Cup.
Ghana is drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
Amoa, popularly known as “The Golden Goal,” stated this in a telephone interview with Hotnewsroundup.com from Accra on Sunday.
He described the group as balanced, saying Ghana had previously performed well against strong opposition.
“In my opinion, Ghana’s group is very good. If you look at the balance of the teams, the strength of the teams in each group is almost equal,” he said.
According to him, England is a side Ghana has been able to handle in the past, adding that Croatia and Panama are also beatable.
“I believe Ghana can qualify for the next stage of the tournament,” he said.
Amoa urged the Black Stars’ coach to select the best players for the tournament.
He criticised some players who declined invitations during the World Cup qualifiers, saying such attitudes were not helpful to the national team.
“Those who were given the opportunity to serve their country during the qualifiers but rejected the offer should wait and can serve Ghana in future tournaments,” he said.
Amoa expressed concern over Ghana’s absence from the AFCON billed to take place in Morocco, saying the competition would have served as preparation for the World Cup.
He advised the Ghana Football Association to arrange international friendly matches to adequately prepare the team.
