The appointment, conveyed in a formal letter dated April 29, 2026,to Ahmed in Lokoja by the Managing Director of the company, Prince Dan Olaitan Dada ,takes effect from May 1, 2026.
Prince Dada said the appointment underscores a deliberate effort by the organization to tap into Mr. Ahmed’s vast experience spanning more than 30 years in journalism and media leadership.

Until his retirement in 2020, Mr. Ahmed served as Assistant Editor-in-Chief at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja,where he built a reputation for editorial excellence, professionalism, and a deep commitment to national development through responsible journalism.
In his new role, Mr. Ahmed will provide overarching media leadership for the organizations, overseeing press communications, shaping editorial direction, and managing strategic relationships with media houses, government information agencies, and digital platforms.
He is also expected to guide communication strategies for advocacy campaigns, policy interventions, and national programmes driven by the group.
Part of his mandate also includes offering editorial guidance to The Reporters, his online news platform, aligning its output with the broader communication objectives of the organizations while maintaining professional standards.
The engagement, described as a consultancy and strategic partnership, will see Mr. Ahmed operate as an independent media consultant,to ensure that outcomes, and the success of media initiatives and campaigns executed under his leadership the meet the aims and objectives of the organization.
