Ogoni: Newly Established Badey Centre Gets Board of Trustees

The newly established Albert Badey Center for Development (ABCD), has unveiled an 11-member board of trustees (BOT), as part of preparations for its formal launching.

ABDC was recently established as a leadership development centre to mark the 90th post-humous birthday celebration of one of prominent Ogoni leaders, late Chief Albert Badey.

Badey was one of the Ogoni leaders who lost their lives during an gruesome incident that occurred at Giokoo community in Gokana local government area of the state in 1994.

Executive director of the centre, Mr. Ibelema Green, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said Senator Benneth Birabi is the chairman of the BOT.

Other BOT members for the centre are Senator Andrew Uchendu and Emeritus Professor Alexis Monsi, as well as a retired Permanent Secretary in the Rivers State Civil Service, Mr. John Nalley, and Sir Michael Aloega.

Also included are Mr. Tombari Badey, Mr. Gogobari Badey, Dr. Sirah Badey-Igbedion, Mrs. Tonta Badey-Linden, and Engineer Gabriel Deage as well as ABCD founder, Suage Badey.

The statement said a date for the formal launch of the Center and 90th Post Humous birthday celebration of the late Ogoni Leader had been fixed for Saturday, April 25th, 2026 at the EUI Event Center, GRA, Port Harcourt Harcourt.

It stated that a one-time Commissioner in the old Rivers State, Dr. Emmanuel Denenu, would deliver the Inaugural lecture, while the former deputy governor of the state, Sir Gabriel Toby, would chair the occasion.
