Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of River state, Mr Charles Wobodo, has called for collaboration with corporate organizations, companies and business owners in the area to support the government to curb security challenges in the area.
Wobodo made the call at Isiokpo, headquarter of the Local Government during a one- day security summit with representatives of various companies, corporate organizations and owners of businesses in the area.
The Ikwerre council Chairman said that the essence of the all- inclusive security summit is to call the relevant stakeholders who are doing business in the local government to agree on how to manage or tackle security challenges in the area.
According to the Chairman, the security meeting will be taking place from time time to excess level of security improvement in the area.
He said that the reason for the meeting is due to the level of insecurity that is going on in the nation.
He maintained that Ikwerre LGA cannot fold its hands to wait, rather it has to take proactive measures before the menace escalates.
Speaking on the turn out for the security meeting, Wobodo expressed satisfaction, saying that atleast 90 percent of the invitees attended the security summit, pointing out that the companies and corporate organizations who knows the importance of the security summit came.
He expressed satisfaction that the security summit achieved desired purpose, with the companies and corporate organizations agreeing to support in combating crime and criminality in the area.
In his speech, the Assistant Commissioner of Police incharge of Isiokpo Area Command, Festus Chimezie Ojiaku, called for collaboration between the companies, and individuals, especially on information destination.
He also also requested for logistics, equipments, and other instruments to enable the security function effectively and efficiently.
The managing director of Autocare Services, Pastor Ambrose Nwoko Simon, said that there is need to create a security platform with all the companies, corporate organizations operating in Ikwerre Local Government Area to be in touch with each other, and monitor security situations in the area.
Meanwhile,the General Manager, Bua Transport company, Bashir Kwalli commended Ikwerre Local Government council Chairman, Charles Wobodo , for inviting the business operatives in the area for such a crucial security summit.
Bashir said that issue of security is not the business of one man alone, but a collective responsibility of everybody.
He assured that Bua Transport company will support every decision taken so far aimed at tackling security challenges in the Local Government..
