FIFA World Cup: Our target is to make it-says Coach Carlos Queiroz

The head coach of Ghana national team, The Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz says the objective of the team is to do well at the FIFA World Cup this summer, scheduled for this summer in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Ghana is in group L with England, Croatia and Panama.

Coach Queiroz spoke to the media in Accra for the first time since his appointment last week that the team`s target is to be ready for the mundial.

” Our target at this moment is to be ready to start the first day and get to the concert against Panama .That`s the first step of our journey in Europe” he said.

He said he will make an honest and accurate assessment of the quality of the players to determine what will be needed for the World Cup.

Queiroz, a former coach of South Africa, Iran and Portugal, said he had been in touch with his players ,coaches and there they have shown the determination to do win for their country.

” A group of my technical team will operate locally and here is a group of members of the staff that will also operate abroad. And here, we want to try to all the information and make the final decision, he said.

The coach said he want to create a dynasty of players that will stay beyond the World Cup to 2032.

According to him, Ghana is a country of footballers . I believe that the day Ghana will be able to manage the present and the future in this way like I said, this country will not only be a country of footballers, but it will also be a country of champions.

Queiroz also said he will use local players who had been adjudged to be good.

” Nobody owns the national team. But the players, they dream to represent the country . It is our job them a fair and right position. For me, the national team, its is heart without equals, without God. Inside the heart can only be the players that deserve to be there. And the moment you open the door and you ask for people to come in and help, that`s why they do have the people that they deserve to be there. So, this is way that I do it” he said.
